Judith Sutton was born and raised in the rural South in an area dotted with cotton mill villages. The youngest of seven children, she and her sister suffered prolonged and repeated emotional, physical, and sexual abuse from incest. She tells her story because
it is "the" story shared by hundreds of thousands of survivors who are unable to tell it for themselves.
Judith earned a Master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Library and Information Science and went on to enjoy a distinguished professional career in Public Library Administration that spanned three decades.
In recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field, the Graduate School bestowed its Distinguished Alumnus Award on Sutton in 1996. In addition to being an author, Sutton is also an exceptional inspirational speaker who is passionate about bringing healing and hope to those who have suffered abuse, providing guidance to those who serve victims, and bringing perpetrators to justice.
